The question is not Nvidea or ATI but "What card at my budget". If you imagine the product ranges of ATI and NVidea as two ladders leaning up against a wall with different products at each rung, it doesn't really matter which ladder has the highest top rung, just how far up the ladders your budget will reach.

The next stage of ATI and NVidia bashing is about to begin all over again.
I'll help solve the problem now.
ATI Smokes NVidia. X850XT PCI EXPRESS in single card format smokes all single card NVIdia.
NVidia Smokes ATI. Performance for Price, Nvidia is in the lead.
Nuff said, leave it at that.,

if your bugget can reach $220 u.s. go to newegg and get the bfg 6600gt and sit back in awe at the power such an inexpessive card has and how cool it runs and how much more you can overclock it. Bang for your wallet. Not bang for whoever like which better

lol...
I just like giving people a hard time. I use nVidia beause ATI doesn't have driver support for Linux OS.....only issue I have with ATI is it's horrible drivers..otherwise they make great cards

I agree X700 Pro or no is certainly not as good as the 6600GT but it is cheaper than the 6600GT even if only a small amount. I wouldn't recommend it over the 6600GT of course.

The original poster was looking for an AGP video card, I believe. Since the x700 Pro is PCI-E only, like all ATi's PCI-E, it's sold at a nearly two-thirds of what it would on the AGP format. This is because Nvidia has cornered a huge portion of the PCI-E market based on SLI, the only real reason to go over to PCI-E at the moment. To combat this, ATi had to drop prices on those cards.

Would run very very nicely indeed, and if you ever put a second 6600GT 256mB in there on the SLI then it would run like a bat out of hell.

Should i buy the 6800GT 256MB than the 6600 GT 256MB card.
But i'm planning on putting one more 6600GT later with the SLI system.

Two words. 7800 GTX. ATI is going to have to release their R520 series soon or else they will be losing in both high end and middle end cards.
On a side note: the 7800 GTX is faster than two 6800 Ultras SLI in some real world benchmark (Real world as in actual game testing, not those synthetic BS benchmarks ie. 3dmarks)

I have an Nvidia 6-something, and GW still runs on 256 MB of RAM, barely.... but I get some real bad slowdown near Old Ascalon.... Soon as I get my extra (512) RAM, I'll be sitting pretty and fast....
